Why we’re here
This publication was born from a wish to see more good new writing shared with the world.
We are here for poetry that spills from the complex, the absurd, and the brute-beaut warm-blooded.
In our sweat and tears and milk-fed origins, we are all sweet mammalians. We aim to be an inclusive publication that reflects the diversity of our submitters, and provides a welcoming place for queer, trans, indigenous, and otherwise-marginalised voices.
While our heart is in Aotearoa New Zealand, from time to time we also publish interesting work from elsewhere. Words from our islands can sing out across oceans.
Every issue is available for free online. We also hand-bind highly limited numbers of print copies. To support us, you can come to our launches or visit the very best indie bookshops to hold the newest issue in your own warm hands.

Financials
We offer a modest koha for accepted work, varying according to our resources and funding. All contributors also receive a print copy of the issue they feature in.
Contributor payments for issue ten were funded by the grace of the Wellington City Council Arts and Culture fund. Contributor payments for issue thirteen are funded by Creative New Zealand. All other koha for artists over the years has been gifted by the editors.
